When we think of our Fallen Heroes, and the mothers and family members mourning their loss, finding words to express our sorrow can be extremely difficult, if not impossible.
MarineParents.com, Inc. began an initiative two years ago to encourage Americans to light a luminary on Gold Star Mother's Day to honor and acknowledge the mothers and families of our fallen heroes. We are asking you to pledge your support for the luminary initiative and encourage your community to light luminaries on that day. Our goal is to represent at least 10 communities in each state this September 25, 2011 with Gold Star Mother's Day Luminaries.
Join us and honor the families of our Fallen Heroes by displaying a luminary at your home and encouraging friends, family and neighborhoods in your community to do the same. We have flyers and ready-made luminaries available to help you with your efforts. See the links in the beige box at the top right of this page. Be sure to sign the pledge of support!
Display your Gold Star luminary on Sunday evening, September 25th, 2011.
Especially on Gold Star Mother’s Day, we want to tell Gold Star families everywhere, “You are in our thoughts and prayers.” Putting a Gold Star luminary on display in conjunction with this day of observance is one way to express that sentiment.
Let this visual display show that our Fallen Heroes will never be forgotten. They made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country and we honor their families on Gold Star Mother’s Day, the last Sunday in September each year.
